Day 27: Treat
When I made my list, I added “treat yourself”. What I meant by that was to treat myself to something new and delightful. A reward for nothing. A treat. Instead, I spent the day treating a persistent headache. I’m just learning how not to grit my teeth through this sort of pain, so this is new in a sense. Screen time is strictly regulated on days like today. More tomorrow.
Day 26: Research
On Day 18 I told you that I would probably save diving down a rabbit hole of research on a subject that I don’t know anything about for another day. Today was that day.
Day 25: Normal
Today has been tough. The next few days will be tough. Not just for me, for all of us. I hope you’re hanging in there. I hope you’re being gentle with yourself. I hope we don’t ever have to mark an anniversary like this again.
Doing something new today feels just… wrong. So, in the spirit of wanting to curl up into a ball, I’m doing something new that is as close to normal as it gets. I’m seeking refuge between the pages of a new book.
Take good care.
Day 24: In
Getting food and exercise: my top two reasons for going out lately.
Tonight, I had food come to me for a change.
Day 23: Méditation
I was looking forward to this little change because I thought it would feel like a really big change, but now that I’m trying to write about it, I don’t have much to say. I did a guided meditation in French. It didn’t feel different. It wasn’t challenging. It just was in French. Cool!
As someone who functions in English by default, the point of adding this to my list was to try to push the boundaries of what I do in another language. Mission accomplished.
